What would "Paradise" be without a Tsunami warning evacuation
On Tuesday July 29th we had a bit of excitement when emergency alarms on all phones buzzing. At first it was just an "alert" but within 2 hours it was a full blown evacuation order and everyone had to leave the PCC. All the guest were about to go to the Luaus and the buffet and "Ha Breathe of Life" night show. All the food was wasted and all tickets refunded or people could came back next day. It was a little hectic but pretty fun too. We were all evacuated first to the stake center up by the temple for a few hours. We had fun playing table games. We had a homeless man that Dave and Gina Wayt were neighbors with that had nowhere to go so he came too. He was an interesting guy. He had been in prison and was also telling us that he was really in "spirit" a female. We played a pretty hard game and he seemed super SMART.
After that we were all sent to "higher ground" which was just behind the temple. People were pretty well equipped. Some people had tents and food and "stuff". Of course a lot of people had little kids and families and had some warning. We came from work so I had a couple of cokes and a sandwich. Shelley brought peanut butter and jam and bread....fending of starvation!!! Some of the little sister missionaries which I am sure were from some countries that had experience severe huge tsunamis were actually crying. It was kinda sad to see them so stressed. However I was completely not worried AT ALL. We were at the temple....no harm was coming to us there I was positive.
We weren't smart enough to bring chairs but there was a great slant on the hill so it was pretty easy to just relax on the grass. It did rain a bit and we had umbrellas so that was good.
I went to visit Kap in the Samoan Village to get a tribute for Hella Lunnen's 90 year Birthday Book, which I am making, as I am the queen of Shutterfly. While I was there I just had to take a quick picture of him because he is a bit of celebrity. He is an artist, and actor, a grandpa of 5 and climbs up the coconut tree daily like a teenager. He starts his day off at the temple every morning and then come to work. He is in the new live action MOANA movie that's coming out in 2026. He is a super nice and fun guy. He also makes tattoos look REALLY COOL....LOL. That black stuff on his legs...tattoos.
