Still haven't put a jacket on yet.....

What a beautiful place to be. It's mid winter and I still haven't needed to wear a jacket yet. The weather can be rainey one minute and sunny the next but it's still feels warm.  Yes, as I tell people " I bought myself a job...but it's the funnest job ever. I get to talk to and see people from all over the world on a daily basis. The best part about it is to visit with them find some common ground and try to make their day better by having a laugh with them, share music, and helping them understand how the PCC is a place of ALOHA and OHANA ( love and family)

This picture is of a huge tree on Waikiki where we visited and had fun at the "Barefoot Beach Cafe "
We had a last fling with Sister Kim Manley who is my roommate and departing for home soon so we needed to get in all the fun things she may have missed.

We had a great day. We went to the old "Mormon" church tabernacle that is also in Honolulu and learned a bit about the first church members and missionaries that did so much work with the hawaiian people. We were hoping to see some missionaries there but couldn't see anyone around to give us a tour.

On the way home we stopped at the Japanese Temple which Julie loves to visit because she served a mission in Japan and knows Japanese. So she was our "guide". There is a big gong bell that you ring to bring blessing so we did a "gong show" which actually has a very deep peaceful sound. The grounds were beautiful and lots of fish and peacocks everywhere but we couldn't convince them to spread their tail feathers.

The next stop was at the beach where if you are lucky you can see Sadie the Seal......sure enough there she was in all her glory. She is roped off and there are signs everywhere to keep her safe. We got there just in time to see her wriggle off to the ocean, which she does everyday when the tide come in.

Then, as fate would have it, there was a beautiful rainbow which was the perfect ending to a perfect day.

Monday night we took Kim to the Airport and said our farewells. She is going back to Utah to be at her kids until she buys a home. She sold her  house and everything before she came out, what a great gal.

This is a picture of our district that we took after we had dinner at our apartment.
L to R- Elder and Sister Greiner, Sherri Sauve, Joan, Kim Manley, Sister Hudnall (Elder Hudnall left for a meeting and missed picture) and Shelley

Sister manley with all the leis she received at her farewell mix and mingle

One Wednesday we ate at the" Crouching Tiger Restaurant" next to the beach. We had never eaten there even though we drive past every time we go to town. It has a peaceful and scenic view of the beautiful beach there.

Fire Knife competition is a highlight each year. Those who are trying to make the cut to perform at the Ha Breathe of Life night show at the PCC bring their best act to compete for a prize and maybe get in.

The greatest part of the night was the 8 year old on the far right who was so amazing and completely won everyone's hearts. The three boys on the right are all brothers and I guarantee they will all be at the PCC with their talents and skills soon as fireknife performers.

These are the drummers who drummed for the whole 2 hours at the competition. They are actually fabulously talented. I am sure it was a lot of hard work but so enjoyable for all who attended the night.
