Bula Laie

Bula Laie.....Good Life and Good Health...watch the old Elvis movie, Blue Hawaii, that was filmed at the PCC to see him sing this song. Drums of the Islands. A lot of it is filmed right in front of where I teach ukulele everyday on the little steam with the boat pushers.

One thing is certain and that is when you are in paradise you will see familiar faces on a regular basis. Who doesn't want to come and be here in this beautiful place.

I turned around one day and there was Lynn Hill and her daughter and family visiting the PCC. It was so fun to see Lindsey's family. She has some really tall kids all of a sudden, all beautiful and happy.
Another day Casey and Jaime Beazer walked in with their boys. We talked about basketball of course.
This lady found out I was from Canada and we got visiting and I found out she grew up in Raymond. She is Gertie Fairbanks's daughter and grew up around the corner from me but is older than me. We had a lot of fun visiting about her mom's restaurant, "Gertie's" that was the place to eat and hang out. Aunt Jeanne used to work there after school. It's a small small world after all......
Shelley's son Eric and his wife Heather ( Karren), who is Brody's cousin came for a visit with their cute kids and that was fun. What a cute bunch they were. Can't believe he has a teenager!!!

                       Susie, Joan , Julie Cathy

We have been going for big walks in the morning along temple and hukilau beach with Susie Ratellee. This is what she loves and we want to spend more time with her as she is getting ready to leave the mission soon to go back to Coeur d'Alene Idaho. She has been an amazing example of love and service.
These are some pictures taken as we walked on the beach of the kite surfer who only come out on nice windy days. They have some pretty amazing skills and did some phenomenal jumps.

Culture Night is a HUGE event held annually at BYUH by all the students where each country and culture represented by their CLUB has 5 minutes to highlight their diversity and spotlight their talents and depict unique cultural aspects of their regions. It's NOT just Polynesia and Micronesia but ALL countries at BYUH that have clubs. Anyone can join and participate in these clubs and learn the aspects of that regional culture.  There were actually over 1000 participants involved in the 2 day event. They had amazing costumes that were funded by their countries and regions as well as funds made at their Fall Food Fest where they sell traditional foods from those areas.

Bruna who is a great student friend and tour guide who we see at the PCC almost daily, was actually in 8 club performances. She is Japanese/Brazilian. She is a tall former basketball player who got injured and is now here almost ready to graduate. She is a livewire and a sweetheart!!!
