Laie is starting to feel like HOME
The beautiful view that greets me everyday never gets old. This is the view that we see as we sit and teach the ukulele classes each day to all the amazing guests here at the PCC. Also here are pictures inside our structure that shows how some of the families lived back in the day. All cooking was done by the men outside...a lot of chopping things and fire and smoke was involved. Also you can see inside our quilt shop where we sell trinkets, pillow cases, hawaiian prints, and beautiful quilts that are hand stitched from the Philippines. They are only 375 USD. (what person could you pay here to do all that stitching for so little) Wednesday is our new permanent day off since school started here. The PCC is now closed every Wednesday until next summer. So a few of us went on a beautiful drive along the coastal highway to get lunch and then we stopped at the macadamia nut farm which was full of beautiful trees, loads of chickens and birds and samples of every flavor of macadamia nut you can imagine....cinnamon was a favorite for me.
Friday night lights on Saturday courtesy of Kahuku High School Football. I felt like RHS with even more noise and crazy. They played a good team from California ...and lost ...but it did NOT deter their enthusiasm and loud cheering, honking parking wherever and FAITH< FAMILY>FOOTBALL. Tickets were sold out but I told them I was from Canada and they let us in for a peek at the fun. I bought a 5$ 2XL t-shirt in lew of a ticket however. I have a video but not sure how to upload it.
Sunday was stake conference and surprisingly Hazel and I are in the same stake. So here we are !!!
The talks were absolutely AMAZING. The one I will highlight was a very handsome student who told his story. The long and short...grew up active in a good family, started down the wrong path with bad friends, Satan took power in his life and instead of 2 years on a mission spent 2 years in jail, where he finally became converted to the healing power of the SAVIOR by reading and studying the Book of Mormon daily. He is now a student here, has been to the temple and his advice was...."don't look for excuses to NOT wear your garments because everyday they remind me that I have put on the whole armour of God and they are a sacred symbol of my ongoing need to keep the the SAVIOR close." His testimony was powerful.
