Just another week in Paradise

This week was a little slower at the PCC so we had some fun singing and harmonizing together. Julie Larsen used to sing in the Tabernacle choir for 11 years and Jacque Lee was a back up singer for Donny Osmond and Carol Thompson is a great singer so....I guess my claim to fame is that I sang with the Hicken Sisters ...LOL and OH ! ...don't forget my stint with Wendy Watson Nelson.  That has got to count for something...right ?? We are getting ready to sing at a farewell munch and mingle for a couple of sisters that are leaving soon, one of them being Lanea Condi who has requested "I Will follow Him" from Sister Act. So Jacque is helping us create our "back up singer" moves. I'm sure we will look like professionals...LOL

So this week we also celebrated our amazing Hella Lunnen's 89th birthday. She is the sister who is our Hawaiian quilter. She was on a mission at the Laie temple a few years ago with her husband and after he passed away she was determined to come back to be the quilter at the PCC because she loves to work, work, work. I guess there were months of deliberation about whether to send an 88 year old sister on a work mission, but she is here now and puts us all to shame with her energetic attitude and all the good she is doing. She is constantly baking and working and brings good treats for us to eat. She is German born and escaped with her little sister at 12 years in the back of a truck and then on foot from east to west Germany. She talks and visits with all our German visitors. When she wants something done....we don't ask why....we just get busy and do it. We honor her frequently with " THE HELLA" which is actually the name of a Hawaiian hula move.

We also said good-bye this week to Oso Sulunga, who was working here cleaning at the PCC just out of high school while waiting to go to Wales on a rugby scholarship. She is such a sweet and beautiful girl. She brought us a big pot of banana pudding with coconut milk and tapioca that her mom made for us that was delicious. She is going to California to get her visa and the will be on her way to Wales where she will go to school and play rugby - hoping to eventually play for USA in the  olympics.
